Nefarious

If you're a long time reader, you'll know that I've written about human trafficking here on the blog on several different occasions.
It's a cause that's been close to my heart ever since I heard about it about five years ago.
If you want to learn more and help fight this tragedy there's an opportunity coming up locally for those of you who live here in Richmond.

This Monday night, July 16th, at The Byrd Theatre they will be screening a movie called Nefarious.
A documentary on the modern day slave trade.
Here's the Facebook event for more info.

There are over 27 million people enslaved around the world today.
That's more than double the number of Africans enslaved during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
This is a real issue and one you should be aware of.

Take the time to see this.

Friday I'm In Love

With...

This post by Natasha.
Her husband wrote her a postcard for every 90 days they were apart.
Pretty much melting over here.

Foxes!
I wish I could have one as a pet

We just usually call it being passionate so it doesn't make us feel like losers."

Happy Friday!
What have you got going on this weekend?

Thankful Thursday

Lately, I am thankful for...

Air conditioning.
With the heat at 100+ I think this is self explanatory.

A lovind boyfriend.
Who takes care of me when I'm not feeling good and loves me the way I am.

Silly brothers.
Who can always make me laugh and remember the joy in loving simple things.
Sometimes when I most need it.

My Mom.
For helping me when I don't know what I'm doing.
(Which is a lot)

Dy Dad.
For supporting me in all that I do.

Weddings.
I get to be a part of two next year!
I'm so excited.

Friends.
For buying things on Etsy and sending me funny texts and always being my biggest fans.

Justin Bieber.
For making fun music to dance in the car to.

Oreos.
For obvious reasons.

My readers.
For always leaving encouraging and sweet comments that make my day.
You guys are amazing and I appreciate every last one of you.

A Bucket List

While cleaning out my room recently I found a "bucket list" that I made about four years ago.
I was able to go through it and check some things off that I've done since I last looked at it and I thought I'd share them here, because I thought some were kinda funny, as well as list some new additions of things I'd like to do at some point.

{Checking off the list}

-See the Statue of Liberty
-Throw a pair of shoes over a telephone wire
-Visit the Empire State Building and climb to the top
-Ride a train
-Drive down Route 66 while listening to the song
-Run through a field of wild flowers ala Sound of Music
-Be a bridesmaid in a friends wedding
-Have my own online store

{Adding to the list}

-Own a typewriter
-Eat macaroons
-Learn how to develop film in a darkroom
-Own a set of blue china
-Finish knitting that one sweater
-Go to the Cherry Blossom Festival
-Make cake pops
-Learn how to make a GIF
-Own a 50mm lens

What's on your bucket list?

Europe In Photos {Part 2}

Here are some more photos from my trip to Liverpool!
Not as many as yesterday though.
(Which made for an easy job of making today's post, that's for sure.)
These are from my second day.
As I said before, you can see a round up of my travel posts here.
And see some Instagrams from the trip here.

 ............................

Despite the heat here I would very much love to have one of those chai tea lattes again.
Mmmm.

Europe In Photos {Part 1}

The thing a lot of you have been nagging and pestering and asking and wondering about...
And the thing I have put off and procrastinated and put aside multiple times...
Photos from EUROPE!
I Know.
About time.
Without further ado (and approximately 86 days after my return) here are some photos from my first day in Liverpool England.
You can read about it here and here.
And see a round up of all my posts from my trip here.
And see some Instagrams from the trip here

More to come.
(I know, you're wondering how that's possible after this mammoth post aren't you? Just you wait.)

Lady Lamb The Beekeeper

Photo cred

Remember when I briefly mentioned Lady Lamb The Beekeeper around this time last year?
Well she showed up on the Free People blog the other day!
Seriously love this girl and her music.
I saw her open for Beirut about a year and a half ago and I just instantly fell in love with her unique sound.

Is it also ok that I got excited when I tweeted her and she responded?
Yea I know... I'm embarrassing.

Be sure to check out her...

Happy Birthday America

 Happy Independence Day!
Though I didn't get to see any fireworks (Second year running...  need to stop being too tired and being in places that have droughts and forbid fireworks from being set off...) it was a good one for me.
It was spent with the ones I love most. Which is all I wanted anyway.
That and good food.
Obviously.

Blessed to be living in this country and to be an American girl.
Hope you all had a great 4th of July as well!
Now I'm off to look at everyone's filtered fireworks pictures on Instagram.

And yes, I ate a big cinnamon pretzel in celebration.
I can do that.
This is America.
